Name: Jon Emerson Colbath
Stage name: My ego is not THAT big
Relationship: Married, two children
Nationality: USA, and about to become Swiss
Home Town: Houlton, Maine USA
Date of Birth: December 16, 1964
Living in: Zollikon, Switzerland
Favorite Place: Foggy Creek Ranch, and of course any stage anywhere
a-live Member Since: December 1999, the beginning
Voice part: Tenor and lead, but I’ve always dreamed of being a bass
Musical Experience: At the ripe old age of ten I had my first public performance singing in front of a cover band at a charity event.  I sang ‘Rock Around The Clock’ and ‘Joy To The World’ from Three Dog Night’. After that I sang in high school chorus, ensembles, musicals and the Maine All State Chorus; in college and university, where I studied voice, I performed in madrigals, musicals and chorus. As an adult I did some time on the open mic night stage until moving to Switzerland where I first joined the a cappella group The Singing Pinguins in 1995, since 2008 I have been the musical director and produced a new CD in 2011.  I was recruited to a-live in 1999 by its founders Peter Zehnder and Manuel Huber.  As an a cappella singer I have had the wonderful fortune to perform in hundreds of venues in Switzerland, Europe and The U.S.
Musical Inspiration: The Grateful Dead, Van Morrison, Steve Miller Band, Frank Sinatra, and a score of 70s bands
Musical schools or diplomas: Every stage in front of every audience has been the biggest part of my musical education.  That, and my Daddy’s guitar.
Profession When not on stage I work as a self employed English teacher and translator
Hobbies: Reading and puttering around my garden, Foggy Creek
Other projects: singingpinguins.com, colbath.ch, foggycreek.ch
